Journey’s

Hi Family and Friends!!

Another week here in Rockwood! Sorry, I’m out of puns. Elder Livingston will be transferring this week to Jacksonville, Il. Its near Springfield near the capital of Illinois for those who don’t know. I will be getting Elder Knapp. I am sad that Elder Livingston is leaving. I thought we’d be together for another transfer. But the Lord has other plans. We both have learned a lot about life, being missionaries, and working through challenges we face. I’ve never met someone with such a burning testimony and desire to overcome obstacles.

We met with Phil this week. We sat down with a member of the ward, and he went to summarize the pamphlet we’d left with him: the Gospel of Jesus
Christ. He loved it! He has a catholic background, and talked about repentance, and eventually got turned over to baptism and why we baptize. Elder Livingston and I felt inspired to open up to 2 Nephi 31 and talk about why Christ was baptized. He learned that we need to be baptized, that it is a commandment and that Christ did it to set the example before us and to pave the way. He loved it! We invited him to baptism. However he said no, which will lead into a lesson next week on the Restoration of the Gospel. He is coming along. However we feel that we need to teach him more about Christ before we commit him again to help him see how he can change, how he can look to Christ as the example of how to live a life. He doesn’t read the bible that much, we will focus on this more with him.

Pat is LOVING the Book of Mormon. She has been reading it like crazy. Again from last week, she is changing right before our eyes. Her restarting to
read the Book of Mormon during the last few weeks has prepared her for the passing away of a family member this weekend.

We finally met with Cory! What a great guy! He is still working at Sams Club, however struggling with the kind of people he works with. We talked
about how to identify Satan’s counterfeits in our lives, and how to overcome them. He loved it!

Nothing new with Nathan. The young man who we were inspired to meet. He is talking things slow and wanting to figure things out.

Bonnie Oscarson: “We all need to seek to have our hearts and very *natures *changed so that we no longer have a desire to follow the ways of the world but to please God. True conversion is a process that takes place over a period of time and involves a willingness to exercise *faith*. It comes when we *search *the scriptures instead of the Internet. It comes when we are *obedient *to the commandments of God. Conversion comes when we *serve *those around us. It comes from *earnest *prayer, *regular *temple attendance, and *faithful *fulfillment of our God-given responsibilities. It takes *consistency *and daily *effort*.” Healing starts within, just let it begin.

I have been thinking a lot about my mission and the experiences I have had. I wouldn’t take any of them back. The good and the bad. I feel so blessed
by the Lord. I know he Lives. Trust him, follow him.

Have a great week. I live it! I love it!
