Hi Friends and Fam!
This week has been great here in Belleville! This week, we didn’t deal with any spider infestations, but we did get three new investigators. It may not be as exciting to you, but hey, Its awesome for us!!
Dario is someone we tracted into a few weeks ago. We actually got to come visit for the first time since then. We shot hoops with him and then were able to teach the restoration lesson to him. He doesn’t really believe in any church really, but really believes in doing good in every aspect of his life. Everything we heard him talk about what he thinks religion is is 95% exactly what the LDS faith believes! We are really excited to teach him. He has a big family as well: an adopted daughter is the oldest and 4 other kids who are their own. He is really awesome because he is really friendly to the missionaries. We see a lot of potential in their family, and hope that we are able to teach his whole family!
Dan is a potential that we stopped by this last week and caught him. We’ve been trying for a while to catch him, and we were able to teach the restoration. He has been to a lot of churches. We are meeting with him again later this week. Very nice guy and has a big family as well!
Tomia is a member referral. The Elders have been meeting with her for a while now, but we are seeing a lot of progress. She is taking her time in reading the Book of Mormon, which is good, because she wants to be certain that the church is true. Thats no worry. She lives by herself, and has a strong belief in the bible. We are just reading a lot with her as we go over.
We were able to get Jermaine, Mimi and Shakira to come to church again! Hooray! But we are going to have to push their baptism date back into October, because me and Elder Peterson don’t feel they are quite ready yet. Its been hard teaching them.
We stopped by Devon again on Saturday. He is someone we tracted into, it wasn’t a coincidence. His girlfriend just broke up with him whom he was living with, and not living there anymore. That removes a severe obstacle in becoming a member. We were just talking with him about missionaries, he couldn’t believe we actually pay to come on a mission for two years! We invited him to church again, but he didn’t end up making it….
My biggest struggle this week has been getting adjusted to missionary life. Man, let me tell you of the change that I’ve gone through this last month. Its crazy to think that I entered the MTC a month ago! Its felt ages ago!! Anyhow, things have been going great here! Loving it everyday. We have president interviews this week, looking forward to that and a musical number for district meeting. Also going to have dinner at Cristie’s house this week!
I’ve really been seeing how much the gospel blesses lives this week. In my own life, but also in the lives of others. If you are ever in doubt with your testimony, or its faltering, remember the words of Helaman:
12 And now, my sons, remember, remember that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation; that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind, yea, when all his hail and his mighty storm shall beat upon you, it shall have no power over you to drag you down to the gulf of misery and endless wo, because of the rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation, a foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall.
Satan will try *everything* to make you fall. He will try anything to make you follow the ways of the world. We are living spirit children of our Heavenly Father, how great is that knowledge! We want to come back to live with him. When we put our trust and exercise faith in Christ, Satan cannot win.
Have a great week!
